  • Wednesday 18th at Bunbury.
  • Thursday 19th at Mt Lawley.

Whether you are a brand new student, of someone who has been at ECU for a while, we would love to meet you. The Guild will be at all O-Days and we will have a stall at Joondalup and Mt Lawley.

There are several other equity groups at ECU and many clubs. All will have stalls. There will be all sorts of free stuff. If you need pens...

Make sure that you find us and introduce yourself. If you are not already a member of MASN you can join up.

A New Year at ECU Mature Age Student Network

Hi Folks! Welcome to 2015 and Semester 1 at ECU.

This semester we have a brand new committee made up of:
  • Owen Fisher - President,
  • Alex (Alexandra) Myers - Vice President, and
  • Stuart Woods - Secretary/ Treasurer and Web Admin.
Thanks to Brian, Eileen, Isa, Andrew, Kelly and Kat for all you have done on the previous committee to make MASN into what it is, and for making it so easy for us to take up our new roles.

We have O-Days coming up and many of committee from last year are coming along to help out at JO and ML. Make sure you come along to catch up or say hi, even if you are not a new student this year.

The dates for O-Day are:
  • Joondalup - Tuesday 17 February,
  • Bunbury - Wednesday 18 February,
  • Mt Lawley - Thursday 19 February.
We hope so see you all there :-)

This year we are running social coffee meets at Mt Lawley AND Joondalup. Come and have a coffee on us, have a chat, make some new friends, and if you are new, get a lot of help orienting to your new life as a student. We'd love to meet our online students as well.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page and here for news of some other things that we are organising. You can subscribe to our mailing list here.

News - March 2014

MASN reps had three enjoyable days during Orientation week meeting new students and talking about a variety of issues of particular relevance to mature age students. This proved to be a great opportunity to let them know they are not alone with their particular problems.

Maria Ramirez, Eileen Whitehead and Kat Campbell (wo)manned the stall at Joondalup on the 18th, with Maria travelling down to Bunbury campus on the 19th, with Kellie Taylor, Andrew Douglas, Kat and Eileen sharing duties at Mount Lawley on the 20th. Our President, Brian Goodman, was given absence of leave as he was working night shift Orientation week – or so he told us!

So now, we have another 90+ names to add to our student list to receive our monthly newsletters and hopefully to enable us to provide support and advice during the year. The newsletter also provides reminders of such things as our coffee mornings, currently held every Wednesday between 10 and 11am in the Central CafĂ© at Mount Lawley, starting on 26 February. We are hoping to re-instate these at Joondalup, but as they were headed by Brian who is now working, we need to encourage a mature age student on the Joondalup campus to offer some support. It’s a worthwhile activity as it provides a useful exchange of views for all concerned. If you are interested in heading this one morning a week please contact bgoodman@our.ecu.edu.au who will explain what is involved.

Last, but not least, we are offering, in conjunction with the Guild, free tickets to students for the film Like Father, Like Son showing at Joondalup Pines on Tuesday, 8th April. In order for us to have some idea of numbers of tickets to order, could you please contact either Brian (as above) or myself – ewhitehe@our.ecu.edu.au. We need to stress that free tickets are only available for ECU students, anyone accompanying you would need to buy their own ticket for the night.

If you would like to get more involved and give us a hand getting everything ready (or just have a chat and a coffee) join us @ Clusters Mount Lawley Campus on Friday 17th 11:00PM. There’s some exciting developments happening with the network, as well as events being planned, so stay tuned for updates!
